Hiring a sling is a great way to try them out, as every child/parent combination is unique and what works for someone else may not work for you! It’s also a great way to borrow beautiful carriers for fun, or specific items for holidays (rain, snow, sun!) We hire carriers for babies, toddlers, preschoolers, as well as babywearing coats, covers and other accessories.

We offer personal support and guidance to help you decide – you can make an appointment with us here for some in-depth 1-2-1 help (eg try several carriers, learn a simple hip or back carry etc) or come to a ten minute library clinic slot. These short slots are for fit checks, or to try one carrier out.
How to make a hire
Make an account on our hiring database here (or log in to your existing account) in advance of your visit. Please add your up-to-date card details, and then come and see us to try a few options and take one (or two) home on hire with you. We will complete the paperwork while you are there. You will receive an email with information about your hire and how to extend/return. You will receive an automated reminder when your hire is due for return, and then weekly once it is overdue. Please ensure you have added our email to your safe sender list, and check your junk folders.
Know what you want already?
Log into your account, search for the carrier you want, and reserve it online. You can then come and pick it up from the Sling Spot shop during opening hours, if you need it posting, please let us know (we charge post at cost). We will email you to confirm your reservation and when it is ready to collect.
How much does it cost to hire?
Hiring slings/carriers – the standard hire rate for most carriers is £7.50 per week to hire when the fee or its renewal are paid in advance. This is £22.50 for four weeks. The daily rate is £1.50. Slings that are renewed or returned after their due date will be charged at the daily rate up until the day of return.
Hiring Stretchy Wraps and Close Caboos – we have a special offer on these carriers to encourage new families to give babywearing a try. We have a free hire scheme for babies under six weeks old (read more here). To extend the hire beyond the free period, the rate for this group of newborn carriers is £5 per week or £15 for four weeks. The daily rate is £1.
Hiring Babywearing Coats – to hire one of our fabulous babywearing coats is £10 per week, or £30 for four weeks. The daily rate is £2 a day.
Hiring Small Accessories (such as carrier covers, ear defenders, etc) – to hire one of these is £5 per week or £15 for four weeks. The daily rate is £1.
Arranging a postal hire
We send carriers on postal hire both locally and all round the UK. The process is the same as for every hire; make an account, add your card details, reserve your carrier (choose hire dates that include time for postage there and back), and let us know!
Renew/Swap your hire
Please reply to your hire email to let us know you would like to extend your hire and arrange payment. We offer free swaps of carriers within your hire period, please contact us and let us know what you would like to exchange for.
Returning your hire
Please return your hire on or before your due date. If you wish to extend your hire, please let us know (contact us or reply to your hire email). If your hire is overdue, you will be charged at the daily rate until it is returned or renewed.
