Sling Library drop in at Zest

A fortnightly Thursday sling library drop in session at the Zest Community Centre baby and toddler group, runs during term time, 10.30-11.30. Open to children 0-3yrs. Held in the children’s library next to reception.

Zest Centre, 18 Upperthorpe, Sheffield, S6 3NA

Volunteer peer supporter staff trained in the safe use of baby slings and carriers will help you and your baby try on some common models and help you feel confident and comfortable. Slings can be hired from this session. This runs lternate weeks to the Slings in the City drop in (at the Snug in S1)

A small sling library with demo dolls is available to browse and hire, the trained peer supporter volunteers are on hand to offer their support and guidance and help you try things on. Slings can be hired from this session to take home and try out, for a fee.

Please be aware library drop ins can become busy; we will do our best to help everyone and may group people with similar needs together. If you would prefer a quieter session or some more in-depth help we offer 1-2-1 support and group workshops at our main city centre premises at The Snug.

What happens at a Sling Library drop-in?

A sling library gives you a chance to try things before you buy, as a sling that isn’t comfortable for you, or one that your baby does not like, could be an expensive experiment! Some parents find a carrier they love straight away, some may try several different types before settling on one that feels the best. Every parent and child combination is unique and what worked well for your friend, or what you have been advised to try on the internet, may not be the best-fitting choice in real life.

No appointment is needed, but if it is busy, there are chairs and toys available while you wait, the peer supporter team will see everyone in turn and sometimes help several families with similar needs together. If you have enjoyed your hire sling and want your own, slings can be bought from the Sling Spot (www.sling-spot.co.uk) in the shop (73 Leadmill Road, S1 4SE) or online.
